The Great Texas Land Rush!
Stake Your Claim
The Texas Almanac, The Source for ALL Things Texan Since 1857, is offering Texans the unprecedented opportunity to stake a claim to their own special part of Texas.
Great for St. Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays, graduations, or anniversaries, Adopt-A-Town or Adopt-A-County makes a unique gift.
Complete the Adopt-A-Town or County Form.
The Adopt-A-County and the Adopt-A-Town programs allow individuals and businesses to put their name on the Texas County or Town of their choice. Additionally, the county or town can be dedicated to a loved one, to family pioneers or used to promote a business. But just like the original Oklahoma land rush, it works on a first come first serve basis, so hurry if you have a special county or town in mind.
Here's how it works:
1. Select a county or town. The Searchable Town Database contains a basic data about each county and town in Texas. You can select any county or town that has not been adopted. Just browse through the database to find your special part of Texas. If you need help selecting a county or town, email or call our us.
2. Adopt-A-County or Adopt-A-Town. After you select a county or town, you can adopt it by completing the online form. You can adopt the town for yourself or dedicate it to a loved one, to family pioneers or promote a business. In the text line, fill in the wording you want posted online. If you Adopt-A-County online, tell us where to link the text. If you Adopt-A-County in print, don't forget to include two lines of text.
Complete the Adopt-A-Town or County Form.
3. What you will get. After you submit the form, you will usually receive confirmation in 24 hours that your town is available and reserved for you. In 3-5 business days after payment is processed, you will receive a adoption certificate by email. Also, all donations to these programs are tax deductible and support state wide educational programs. For more information on the TSHA and its extensive educational programs go to www.tshaonline.org.
