Becker
Becker, three miles southwest of Anderson in southwestern Grimes County, was founded about 1869, when Christian Becker, an immigrant from the Rhineland, established a cotton gin in the vicinity of Holland Creek. Over the next several decades Christian Becker assisted in the settlement of more than twenty families of Germans in the Grimes County area and employed several of them at the gin. Mail service to the community was provided over a rural route from Navasota. The settlement appears to have been abandoned before the turn of the century.
