Center is a farming community on Farm Road 2902 eight miles northeast of New Deal and seven miles southeast of Abernathy (Hale County) in north central Lubbock County. The old Center school continued to serve as a meeting place for religious services, but around 1950 it was torn down and replaced with a new church building. The Center church remained active in the 1980s.
