Way, ten miles northwest of Lakeview in northwestern Hall County, was established as a post office in the home of J. B. Carroll near Deep Lake in 1890, with William H. Holmes as postmaster. Holmes had originally moved to the area in the 1870s to hunt buffalo and stayed to become an influential citizen. The post office was later moved to the home of James M. Dickson, who acted as postmaster, but was discontinued in 1901, when mail was sent to Lakeview.
