Hazel Dell
Hazel Dell (Hazeldell) was a school community 5½ miles south of Biardstown in extreme southern Lamar County. The area was settled by at least 1896, when a Hazel Dell school reported twenty-three students and one teacher. The 1936 county highway map shows the school, a cemetery, a business, and a cluster of dwellings along the highway and several dirt roads. By 1957 the Delmar Independent School District had absorbed the Hazel Dell system, and within seven years the cemetery was all that was left of the community. The Hazel Dell cemetery was still shown on the 1983 county highway map.
