Hopewell
Hopewell, formerly known as Mulberry, is located five miles north of Clarksville on State Highway 37 in northern Red River County. Mulberry developed as a village about 1890. In 1913 H. G. Gamble, owner of the general store, secured a post office that operated until 1918, when mail was ordered to Bagwell. Gamble also taught at the Hopewell school after World War I, and the community was known as Hopewell by the 1940s. The community reported a population of 150 in 1990 and 2000, and Hopewell Missionary Church was still active in 2003.
