Lake Brownwood, also known as Brownwood Reservoir, is an artificial lake on Pecan Bayou, eight miles north of Brownwood in north central Brown County (at 31°50' N, 99°00' W). The project is owned and operated by Brown County Water Improvement District Number 1. The surface area is 7,300 acres, and the drainage area 1,535 square miles. The lake's normal capacity is 118,900 acre-feet; its maximum capacity is 448,200 acre-feet. The spillway elevation is 1,425 feet above mean sea level.
