Lake Gladewater
Lake Gladewater is on Glade Creek in the Sabine River basin in northwestern Gladewater in Upshur County (at 32°33' N, 94°58' W). The project is owned and operated by the city of Gladewater for municipal water supply and recreation. Construction of the reservoir was started on October 15, 1951, and completed on August 29, 1952. The lake has a capacity of 6,950 acre-feet and a surface area of 800 acres at the spillway elevation of 300 feet above mean sea level. The drainage area above the dam is thirty-five square miles. The local terrain is low-rolling to flat and is surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support mixed hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
