Mound Creek
Mound Creek was a community on a dirt road eight miles southeast of Gillett in northeastern Karnes County. It was settled in the 1880s and had a school that existed at several different locations. A store was established there in the 1930s. Nearby Asher Cemetery has the graves of its early settlers, including that of Jane Bowen Hardin, wife of John Wesley Hardin. In 1990 only a cemetery and a few scattered farms and ranches remained in the area.
