Mount Gillion
Mount Gillion, a rural community on State Highway 7 twelve miles east of Nacogdoches in eastern Nacogdoches County, was settled around 1900. A school for black children was in operation there by 1904, when it had an enrollment of forty-five. In the mid-1930s Mount Gillion had the school and a number of houses. After World War II many of its residents moved away, but as late as the mid-1960s a church and a number of scattered houses were in the area.
