New Fairview
New Fairview is at the intersection of Farm roads 407 and 2264, southeast of Decatur in southeastern Wise County. By the early 1900s the town existed under the name Fairview. In the 1930s highway maps showed a church and cemetery, a school, and scattered dwellings at the site. The community had a church and school for many years and was incorporated in 1973. The first population figure for Fairview was 180 in 1980. By the early 1990s the population was 206. In 1999 the name of the town was changed to New Fairview. The population had increased to 877 in 2000. New Fairview has a mayor/council form of government. The community includes one church, four businesses, and a volunteer fire department.
