North San Pedro

San Pedro is on State Highway 44 east of the Robstown city limits and west of Corpus Christi in Nueces County. It is part of an unincorporated barrio that was census tract Number 57 during the 1950 census, at which time it was named San Pedro. Robstown has furnished to the area tax-free city services such as police and fire protection, water, gas, and electricity. It has gradually annexed most of the area. The 1960 census showed an average house rental of twenty-six dollars a month and an average education of two years. In 1963 the population was 7,634. In 1970 the population had decreased to 3,065. In 1990 the part of San Pedro south of Highway 44 was annexed, but the northern part of San Pedro remained unincorporated. The Texas Almanac reported a population of 2,229 in North San Pedro from 1975 through 1987. In 1990 the population was 953. See COLONIA.
