St. Matthew
St. Matthew is a farming community on the northern edge of the blackland prairie seven miles north of Caldwell in northern Burleson County. Anglo-American settlement in the vicinity began in the mid-1830s. The date of the town's founding is uncertain, but since the mid-1900s the community has sprawled along Farm Road 2000 between Cedar Creek and Storm Branch. The St. Matthew Church is on the southern boundary of the township. During the mid-1960s the community population was reported as twelve. No further population figures were available.
