Stairtown
Stairtown is at the intersection of State Highway 80 and Farm Road 671, six miles northwest of Luling in southwestern Caldwell County. It began as a boom town in the 1920s, shortly after the discovery of the Luling oilfield, and was named in honor of a Mr. Stair of Luling, who owned much of the land in the area. A few businesses and several scattered houses marked the community on county highway maps in the late 1940s, but the official population estimate was only twenty. From the late 1960s through 2000 the number of residents was listed as thirty-five.
