Three Points

Three Points is on Farm Road 1825 thirteen miles north of downtown Austin in northern Travis County. Before the construction of Interstate Highway 35, U.S. Highway 81 and Farm Road 1825 formed a three-way intersection there, which gave Three Points its name. A business and a few scattered houses marked the community on county highway maps in the 1940s. When the interstate was completed in the late 1950s, Highway 81 was rerouted to follow it, bypassing Three Points by less than half a mile. Several businesses in the area continued to thrive through the 1980s, however, because the community was on the route from Pflugerville to the interstate. Business and residential development continued in the Three Points area, which was still identified on county highway maps in 2000. No population estimates were available.
