Tryon

Tryon, a farming community off U.S. Highway 259 in what is now northeastern Longview in eastern Gregg County, was established in the 1850s and is said to have been named for Trion, Georgia, the original home of some of its early settlers. In 1881 the Alpine Presbyterian Church was organized at the community. A local school operated for a time but was consolidated with Longview schools sometime after 1900. After World War II Tryon became part of greater Longview.
