Turnersville
Turnersville, near Interstate Highway 35 twelve miles south of Austin in southern Travis County, was named for J. L. Turner, an early settler who gave land for a school in 1880. The community had fifty residents in the mid-1930s; in the late 1940s a few businesses and scattered houses marked it on county highway maps. The Turnersville common school district was consolidated with the Buda Independent School District in Hays County in 1950. The population of Turnersville was reported as ninety from the late 1940s through 2000.
