Venadito
El Venadito, also known as Venadito, is off U.S. Highway 281 twenty-one miles west of Brownsville in southwestern Cameron County. In the late 1940s the community had a few scattered farms, dwellings, and a cemetery. By 1970 the number of dwellings in the area had increased to sixty. The population of El Venadito was estimated at 207 in 1986, and the colonia encompassed three acres. The population remained at 207 in 2000. Venadito means "little deer" in Spanish.
