Whitworth
Gossett was on the Texas Midland Railroad and the Hunt county line near State Highway 34 in northern Kaufman County. It was established in 1892, when J. W. Whitworth started the first business. That same year a post office was opened there. By 1899 the community apparently supported two teachers, a literary society, and a photographer's studio. The community's post office was closed in 1903, and its mail was routed to Quinlan. Gossett was still shown on a 1918 railroad map.
