Caney City
Caney City is on State Highway 198 eleven miles west of Athens in western Henderson County. The largely residential community grew after the construction of Cedar Creek Reservoir in the mid-1960s. During the early 1980s Caney City was incorporated. Its population was 177 in 1980, and in 1990 it had a store and a reported population of 170. In 2000 the population was 236.
