Live Oak
Live Oak is a community on Live Oak Creek and Ranch Road 176 eight miles southwest of Eden in southwestern Concho County. The settlement had a school with one teacher and thirty-two students as early as 1896–97. A Methodist church was organized at the community around the 1890s; it later joined with the Methodist church in Eden. In 1936 Live Oak had a school, a church, a business, and a cemetery. In 1940 the school, which encompassed grades one through seven, had three teachers and an average daily attendance of twenty-six. By 1955 the school had been consolidated with the Eden school district. In 1970 the community had several scattered buildings.
