Manila

Manila was near Box Creek nine miles southwest of Rusk in western Cherokee County. The site was probably settled in the late 1880s or early 1890s. A post office operated there from 1899 until 1906. At one time a store and a mill operated in the area, but by the 1930s the community no longer appeared on maps. In the early 1990s only a few scattered houses remained.
