Pleasant Grove
Pleasant Grove is on Farm Road 945 fifty-five miles north of Houston in southern San Jacinto County. Early settlers came largely from Alabama and Mississippi and settled in the Pleasant Grove area during the 1870s. Numerous tram rail lines through southern San Jacinto County indicate that the region was once the site of heavy lumbering operations. Two churches and scattered buildings remained as of the mid-1970s, but the community was no longer listed by the Texas Highway Department in 1983.
