Taylor Lake Village

Taylor Lake Village is on Taylor Lake west of Seabrook in southeastern Harris County. The community was incorporated in December 1961 with a mayor-alderman form of city government. The town permits no business establishments within its corporate limits. NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center (see LYNDON B. JOHNSON SPACE CENTER) and other nearby industries employ many of the residents. School children attend Clear Creek Independent School District schools. In 1964 residents complained of water pollution, and in 1965 tests were made to determine levels of radiation in local waters. The population rose from 640 in 1966 to 3,394 in 1990. In 2000 the population was 3,694.
