Eureka

Eureka is twelve miles northwest of Mount Vernon in northwestern Franklin County. In 1896 it had a one-teacher, one-room school that served thirty-seven students. During the 1930s Eureka had a school, church, and business. By 1985 only widely scattered houses remained in the area. The population was eighteen in 2000.
