Mount Tabor

Mount Tabor, a rural community eight miles northwest of Paris in northwestern Lamar County, was evidently first settled after the Civil War. During the mid-1930s the community had a church, a cemetery, and a number of houses; a school and several stores were located nearby. The community declined after World War II, and in the early 1990s only a church and a cemetery remained there.
