Oak Shade
Oak Shade is on Farm Road 943 twenty-eight miles southeast of Livingston in southeastern Polk County. It was named for a grove of shady oak trees, and residents were involved in ranching, lumbering, and oilfield activities. The population was estimated at seventy-five in 1966. Two miles southwest of town is the Segno oilfield, discovered in 1936. Oak Shade was still listed on county maps in 1990.
