Ragtown

Ragtown is on Farm Road 197 eighteen miles northwest of Paris in northwestern Lamar County. Though probably settled earlier, the community is not shown on maps until after 1900. At its height during the 1930s Ragtown had a sawmill, several stores, and a reported fifty residents. The population fell to thirty by the mid-1960s. In the early 1990s Ragtown was a dispersed rural community with a population of twenty-five and no businesses. The population remained the same in 2000.
