Sandy Mountain
Sandy Mountain stands on a small peninsula at the mouth of Sandy Creek on the western shore of Lake Lyndon Baines Johnson in Sunrise Beach Village in southeastern Llano County (at 30°35' N, 98°25' W). At an elevation of 1,057 feet, it rises 225 feet above the normal level of the lake. Local topography is characterized by flat to rolling to steep terrain, locally dissected, covered with soils that vary from shallow and stony to sandy and clay loams. Vegetation consists primarily of open stands of live oak and Ashe juniper.
