Sharon
Sharon is a church community on State Highway 37 near Big Sandy Creek, five miles south of Winnsboro in northeastern Wood County. The Sharon Baptist Church, said to be one of the oldest churches in Wood County, was organized by Epreham Willingham in 1852, and by 1878 church membership had reached 132. In 1891 the old church building was demolished and replaced with a larger structure. There was a Sharon post office from June to December 1875. In the 1930s a few dwellings remained in the vicinity of the Sharon church and cemetery; the church and cemetery were still shown on the 1988 county highway map.
